For fiscal 2019, CMS is proposing an increase in reimbursement policies for hospice, skilled nursing facilities, inpatient psychiatric and rehabilitation facilities. SNF could see an $850 million increase in Medicare payments as part of the 2018 Bipartisan Budget Act. The proposal also opens the potential for allowing remote meetings and less stringent documentation requirements for rehab physicians and facilities, including reduced quality measure reporting for these facilities.
According to the American Hospital Association, providers spend $39 billion on administrative costs related to regulatory compliance.
