As the industry moves toward more efficient and convenient options for patients to pay their medical bills, HuTech is assisting client practices with two primary initiatives on this front. The first is ensuring that patients have an on line capability to manage me their financial obligations to the practice. This includes self-service (secure) storing of credit cards; setting up recurring payments; and integration with the practice’s management system to ensure accuracy of balances and coordinated auto-posting for timely payment allocation. The second initiative is offering patients the option of electronic statements. Patients can opt-in to receive statements electronically versus paper and reports of patient acceptance and adoption of this offering continue to increase: HBMA recently had a report on practices reducing their monthly paper statement volume (and cost) by as much as 80%.
