MultiPlan began sending notice of a contract amendment in December 2018 that will auto-enroll contracted practices with a third party service called Simplicity, effective March 22, 2019. The Simplicity service will directly pay patients’ out of pocket responsibilities (deductible, coinsurance, etc) for a fee of 7% of the total allowed amount of the claim. For most practices, this fee does not justify the service being offered. Practice’s must opt out of the Simplicity service in writing and we encourage all providers to look for this notice from MultiPlan in order to opt out within the 60-day window (from the date of the letter) they’ve given. Please feel free to contact HuTech with any questions related to this contractual change from MultiPlan. Letters to opt out of the Simplicity service can be faxed to: 630-245-2464, but must include the “mail code” from the letters sent in December.
