The HBMA conducted a member survey in August 2019 on four commonly used Payer Portals: Availity; Cigna; Optum; and NaviNet. The three sections of the survey addressed “Functions Utilized”, “Enrolling and Managing Clients”, and “Overall Experience”. While all four portals scored well, Availity and Optum ranked highest in overall functionality (and, number of functions available) with NaviNet ranked 3rd and Cigna last in the category. The Cigna portal ranked highest in overall experience, followed by Optum, then Availity and Navinet. And, Navinet & Cigna ranged highest in ease of enrollment and management of the portals, followed by Optum while Availity ranked lowest in this category.
