Public Health Emergency Expires

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is planning for the federal Public Health Emergency (PHE) for COVID-19 to expire at the end of the day on May 11, 2023. The PHE declarations have been in place since March 2020, and the enhanced federal funding and coverages will be “phased out” by payers including Medicare, Medicaid and Private Health Insurers in the months following its expiration.
