United Health Group continues to expand and exert influence over the US healthcare industry. As of November 2023, Optum Health has increased its number of employed physicians to 90,000 – a 30% increase for the beginning of the year. Optum also employs another 40,000 advanced practice clinicians and is expected to approach revenues of $110 billion in 2024. United Health Group anticipates an increase in Medicare Advantage membership to exceed 8.5 million people in 2024, and another 34.4 million people covered by commercial plans. United Health’s employer-based and individual plans alone are expected to generate $84 billion in revenues for 2024.
