The February 21, 2024 cyber-attack on Change Healthcare has had a major impact on many levels of the healthcare industry. Change Health is connected to 90% of hospitals, 80% of health insurers and more than 67,000 pharmacies. Change Healthcare processes about 50% of medical claims and manages prior authorization requests and reimbursement processes. On Friday,3/22/24, UnitedHealth Group said it expects this week to restore eligibility processing, benefits verification capabilities and pharmacy claims submission software. UnitedHealth Group also said Change Healthcare will begin processing $14 billion in medical claims as software returns online.
